Ann has been a professional yoga teacher for the past 17 years. She has been fortunate to learn from many teachers but feels particularly lucky to have had the guidance of Roch Lockyer (Sangam Yoga) for 15 of those years.
She began practicing yoga in the early 1990s in the Himalayan Tradition, a classical style of yoga, where she learned the foundations of asana, pranayama, philosophy and Ayurveda. After a few years of dedicated practice she began to assist her teacher by providing adjustments to students, demonstrating asana, subbing and eventually taking on her own class. After a few years of teaching, she obtained her 200 hour certification which was grounded in the Sivananda and Vinyasa yoga traditions. After 15 years of teaching, Ann travelled to India to obtain her 300 hour advanced certification.
Ann has taught a variety of styles of yoga throughout the years and at an even wider variety of locations. Her teaching resume includes: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Hatha, Hot Hatha, Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga Primary Series and Yin.
To enhance her understanding of the body and how to better utilize and engage the core for structural stabilization and balance, Ann began to study Pilates in 2001. She currently uses the Pilates exercises and equipment to help private yoga students learn proper muscular engagement in their asanas.
