After Jacqueline retired from her position of Director of the IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages, she continued to devote much of her time to teaching languages. But in July 2011 she discovered the beauty and power of yoga thanks to two excellent teachers at Mukti Yoga: Andreas Weinrich and Stephanie DeBoer and she started to practice seriously. She felt that yoga was exactly what her body and soul had been waiting for: a wonderful freedom from all worldly pursuits, from all cares and worries. She discovered that yoga through poses and breathing was opening new doors of inner delight. She started teaching as an intern at Lynda Mitchell Yoga Studio in January 2012. A year later, she received her certification from Lynda and kept teaching at her studio. In June 2013 she participated in the Amrit Yoga Teacher Program in Florida and in January 2014 she joined the Svastha Yoga Teacher Program in Chennai, India. Two videos of her yoga practice can be seen on YouTube and are titled Extended Sun Salutation and Focus on Seated Poses. These videos were made by Maryellen Greulich who also created a series of videos titled “The Ultimate Reality”. One can view these on her website: www.interiormythos.com .
Jacqueline started teaching at Mukti Yoga in October 2014, as she also taught three noon classes at Touchstone Wellness Massage and Yoga Studio. Mukti Yoga became Ekah Yoga in July 2015, under the expert direction of Crystal Olry. Jacqueline is happy to teach two noon classes at Ekah Yoga, on Mondays and Wednesdays. She feels that it is a privilege and a blessing to share her practice with other yoga lovers.
Jacqueline leads the class participants into deep breathing and gentle but thorough stretching, in order to help them open the whole body with all its energy centers to life energy, to Prana, which flows, like a purifying river, from the crown of the head to the base of the spine, and through all the limbs. The breath becomes a vital part of all the Asanas as the Asanas are linked in harmonious sequences. We are part of the vivifying life, breath, dance, and music of nature. As we relax at the very end of the class, our whole being feels beautiful energy, calming, soothing, strengthening, free from tension and stress, drinking the elixir of peace, Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi!
